There are several types of auto glass dunks and different ways to get rid of them. Let's highlight a few safety tips and tell you how to get rid of them.

Car Windshield Gunk & Remedy

#1 Dead bug stains:

There is nothing more annoying than meeting carcasses of dead insects on top of your vehicle window. It is disgusting and can also cause stubborn stains to linger on your car glass. You can purchase a bug removal spray bottle to get rid of bugs splatter on your car's windshield. But, if you want an alternative remedy, here's how to get rid of them.

Remedy

  • Put on your hand gloves.
  • Get some fresh  paper towel and use it to wipe off every bug residue or remains entirely.
  • Get a glass cleaner and a soft lint-free cloth to gently scrub away any stubborn stain or residue while spraying the glass cleaner.
  • Prepare some soapy water and a different soft lint-free cloth to wash the areas concerned finally.

If you want to be sure of sparkly-clean car glass, visit a car wash for an overall washing.

#2 Chewing Gum:

Removing chewing gum on auto glass can sometimes be challenging, especially if it has been there for a long time. The presence of heat and air can make gum melt and dry harder onto the glass. But be rest assured- no matter how sticky it gets, you can still safely remove it.

Remedy

  • Put on your hand gloves and use your hands to peel off as much gum as possible.
  • Put a few ice cubes in a plastic bag and place it on the remaining gum until it solidifies completely.
  • Peel off the remaining gum using a plastic scraper gently scrape it.
  • Gently rub the area with a lint-free cloth dipped in a diluted alcohol solution.
  • Then proceed to wash window glass properly with window cleaning detergent. Make you don't leave any remaining residue. Scrub in circular motions to get all the dirt but be careful to not scratch the windshield.

#3 Wiper Tracks:

Windshield wiper blades can leave unwanted tracks on the vehicle's windshield due to residue, glass damage, or rain-soaked windows. Here's how to remove the wiper's mark.

Remedy

  • Soak a soft lint-free cloth in rubbing alcohol or a solution of baking soda for 30 minutes.
  • Gently wipe the track stains with the cloth until they disappear.
  • Go ahead to spray and gently rub the wiper's mark with a glass cleaner.
  • Then, dry the area completely to avoid getting moisture trapped underneath the windshield.

If you've tried these steps and the track stains still appear, then your windshield is most likely damaged due to the metal components of your wiper. In this case, you should visit our professional windshield repair shop.

#4 Decals or Stickers:

The adhesive on stickers or decals makes them stick firmly on auto glass. Thus, removing them will leave sticker glue behind on the vehicle window. All you need is an adhesive remover and a window cleaner dissolve the sticker glue before effortlessly cleaning them.

Remedy

  • Buy an original adhesive remover at your local store.
  • Try to peel off the decal or sticker gently away from the glass surface to expose the adhesive or try warm water. If it doesn't come off, leave it alone.
  • Apply the adhesive remover on the sticky stuff left on the car glass or directly on the decal or sticker that didn't come off. Most of them can be peeled off after soaking in soapy water.
  • After waiting for a few minutes, use a lint-free cloth to scrub the area gently. Then, all adhesive residue should be gone.

#5 Spray Paint

Getting rid of that random spray paint from your auto glass surface is quite simple. Here's all you need to do:

Remedy

  • Get a plastic blade to scrape off the spray paint adequately. Never use razor blades or metal scrapers to avoid leaving scratches on your car window.
  • Scrape in one direction only and also in long steady strokes.
  • Dip a dry microfiber cloth in a small amount of acetone nail polish remover and scrub the car glass gently. Don't allow the nail polish remover to touch the vehicle's paint or the glass seal because harsh chemicals from it can damage the vehicle's paint.
  • Lastly, wash and rinse your vehicle.

#6 Acid Rain Stains

Not all rain can keep your car windshield clean. Stains from acid rain can be a real hassle, especially if it has been smeared on the windshield by the wiper. Acid rain stains might not cause damage to the windscreen and car windows, but they can reduce visibility for the driver, which can further lead to accidents. Follow these steps to eliminate acid rain stains on auto glass.

Remedy

  • Prepare a water and vinegar solution or rubbing alcohol. You can use a spray paint bottle for precise application.
  • Get a microfiber or lint-free cloth to gently rub the areas with the stain using the solution you prepared earlier. Remember a regular glass cleaner might not get the job done.
  • Keep scrubbing until it dries out and appears steak free.

Conclusion

In addition, if any of these problems persist, It's always advisable to visit a professional auto glass repair shop to figure out if you need a proper repair or replacement. As much as learning to fix these minor problems yourself can prove helpful, consulting a windshield repair specialist is always preferable to get rid of any auto glass dunk.
